What is an ADU? Really glad you asked.
An ADU or an Accessory Dwelling Unit is a legal and regulatory term for a secondary house or apartment that shares the building lot of a larger, primary home.
Usually just referred to as an ADU, the term “accessory dwelling unit” is commonly-use across the country to describe this type of housing ADU is just easier.
There are a few different types of ADU’s

- Garage Conversion ADUs
- ADUs built above a garage or workshop
